DO YOU KNOW

JESUS?
“I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”, by The Rolling Stones was one of the most popular songs of 1965, probably because so many people could relate to it!

Most people are unable to get satisfaction. At best, it’s only for a time; then it fades away like trying to grab the passing wind.

One of the richest men in the world, a guy who had it all, also couldn’t be satisfied. Many years ago, he said this:

“I did not restrain myself from getting whatever I wanted; I did not deny myself anything that would bring me pleasure…Yet when I reflected on everything I had accomplished and on all the effort that I had expended to accomplish it, I concluded: “All these achievements and possessions are ultimately profitless-like chasing the wind!”(Ecclesiastes 2:10-11, NET)

Throughout his writing, this teacher mentions many things he has including women, money, a big house, and more; but even the richest guy in the world could not say he was satisfied!

A few hundred years later, a Man came on the scene who promised Living Water, abundant life that would fulfill. A man named Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to this earth to dwell among men and give His own abundant life that we too would have abundant life by His Holy Spirit.
God originally created people to be in an abundant life-giving relationship with Him, but man disobeyed God, wanting to live according to his own plan instead of God’s. We now suffer the consequences because nothing we do in our own strength can bring us back into a relationship with God; but when Jesus came, He lived a perfect life knowing that we wouldn’t be able to! He died on a cross and became the means by which people could be brought back into a relationship with God, the proof being that He literally rose from the dead!

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”, and “For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, 14:6, NET).
If you want to enter an abundant, eternal relationship with God through what Jesus has done for you, you can pray a prayer like this, “Lord, I’m sorry that I have gone my own way. Forgive me for following my own desires. I want to follow You, Jesus, for the rest of my life. I surrender my life to You, knowing that only You can give Me true life. I ask for Your Holy Spirit to dwell within me and to guide me into Your great plan for my life. Help me to live as You would, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

If you prayed this prayer, you are now one of God’s children! From now on, you are on an exciting journey of being led by God through the Bible, prayer, service, and in community with other followers of Christ.
